PRODUCTION CASE STUDY
Custom Flocked Mesh Top Manufacturing: A Metrodress Case Study
Metrodress is a gothic and alternative clothing manufacturer working with brands on custom garment projects. This case follows a black flocked mesh top we produced in bulk, including the client's brief, concerns about shedding and our washing checks.
The client's design brief
For this custom garment project, the client wanted a flocked finish on mesh, creating a top that could work for everyday styling while retaining a sensual, sheer look. The design combines black mesh with a branching motif, a mock neck and long sleeves.
The production concern
Before sampling, the client raised concerns about flock shedding and localized detachment. Alongside achieving the intended appearance, checking how the flocked finish performed during washing was an important part of the project.
Adhesive selection and washing checks
We paid particular attention to adhesive selection, taking environmental requirements into account, and carried out washing checks to assess the flocked finish.
During the checks performed for this project, we observed no noticeable flock shedding, localized detachment or changes to the pattern. These observations relate to those checks; they are not a guarantee under every washing method or care condition.
Bulk production by Metrodress
Metrodress produced this flocked mesh top in bulk for the client. The product photographs show the front and back of the garment, while the styling images illustrate how the top can be worn.
The black underlayer and trousers are shown for styling; they are not part of the mesh top featured in this case study.
